[00:00:00] Speaker A: I'm Lila Rie.
[00:00:01] Speaker B: And I'm Nick B.
[00:00:02] Speaker A: Listen, we're just two single girls from the city of roses discussing all things love, lust, and perception.
[00:00:08] Speaker B: And roses are a symbol of all things beautiful about love.
[00:00:11] Speaker A: But as you know, love can get a little dirty. So we're here to talk about it.
[00:00:15] Speaker B: Dirty Roses podcast starts now.
[00:00:18] Speaker A: Hey, I'm Lila Ree.
[00:00:20] Speaker B: And I'm Nick B.
[00:00:20] Speaker A: And welcome to Dirty Roses podcast.
We are in season six.
Six.
[00:00:29] Speaker B: I can count season six.
[00:00:32] Speaker A: I don't know if we want to call this six rings game. Six.
I don't know.
[00:00:39] Speaker B: The sixth man.
[00:00:40] Speaker A: The sixth sense.
[00:00:41] Speaker B: The six.
Something with a six in it. We'll figure it out.
[00:00:44] Speaker A: That's too many sixes. Now take it back.
[00:00:47] Speaker B: Put some holy water on all those sixes. Right. Just six season.
[00:00:51] Speaker A: But guess what? What, bitch?
I literally was gonna do it again.
[00:01:00] Speaker B: I'mma do it better for the camera.
[00:01:01] Speaker A: Do it again. Guess what? What, bitch?
Okay, that wasn't rehearsed at all.
[00:01:08] Speaker B: It really wasn't. At least not the second one.
[00:01:10] Speaker A: Okay. We are doing our seasonal. I want to say annual.
[00:01:15] Speaker B: It's our recap.
[00:01:16] Speaker A: Our recap episode.
[00:01:17] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Where we talk about last season and this season.
[00:01:23] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:01:23] Speaker A: Whole episode dedicated to talking about what we talk about.
[00:01:27] Speaker B: The episode that we talk about what we talk about.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: And y' all love it. Cause y' all love us. At least. We do. But before we do that.
[00:01:33] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:01:33] Speaker A: Let's catch up.
[00:01:34] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:01:35] Speaker A: What has been going on with you since last season?
[00:01:37] Speaker B: I broke up with my mans and them.
[00:01:39] Speaker A: Oh, the kind of man that she was kind of mentioning but didn't fully mention.
[00:01:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
It just didn't work out. He just didn't take me out guy, unfortunately. Yeah. No, it just.
[00:01:50] Speaker A: Oh, this is the guy that never took the date. Like.
[00:01:53] Speaker B: Yeah.
Ladies, have you ever been on a date where you never went? That's what I did.
Yeah.
[00:01:59] Speaker A: Had a whole boyfriend and no dates.
[00:02:01] Speaker B: You know, dates. And I'm not exaggerating. And this is actually no shade to him because he's. He's actually a pretty decent dude. I think the issue really was our work schedules just didn't work for each other.
[00:02:12] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:13] Speaker B: And so, you know, after some trying to make plans and trying to figure it out and just basically being like, I just don't think that we are each other's person. Not in this season of each other's lives, at least.
[00:02:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:27] Speaker B: And so let's make room for each of us to find somebody else that's more compatible with our lifestyles, I guess.
[00:02:33] Speaker A: So you Guys still in communication?
[00:02:34] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. You know, we're. I would say we're good friends.
[00:02:37] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:02:38] Speaker B: Not best friends, but he's absolutely someone I can still call on if, you know, I'm dying from the clots or something.
[00:02:43] Speaker A: Jesus Christ.
[00:02:45] Speaker B: I can call on him if I'm not feeling well.
[00:02:47] Speaker A: That part. That part. What else is going on like this? That's been the biggest thing.
[00:02:51] Speaker B: I mean, 2025 has been a year in general. I think everybody is feeling it. You know, eggs are finally starting to come down, but they still high. Yeah, but, you know, other than that, just, you know, lots of changes in our world as far as works are concerned and families and 2025 has just been a year, like I said, ended one relationship. Right now I'm just comfortable chilling, not dating anybody at the moment. Unless you're trying to date me. And then I'd like you to slide into my inbox, and then I can slide back into yours and we can talk about some photos and stuff.
[00:03:26] Speaker A: Oh, some special photos.
[00:03:27] Speaker B: But what about you? What's going on with you this year?
[00:03:30] Speaker A: Yo.
Dates.
[00:03:34] Speaker B: Yeah. Have you been on any dates?
[00:03:35] Speaker A: I think I've been on.
Have I been.
[00:03:38] Speaker B: I've been on a. I don't feel like if. You have.
[00:03:41] Speaker A: I didn't tell you. Ooh. I did go on a date. Where?
Locally. Here. With a local.
[00:03:47] Speaker B: With a. You guys, she is breaking her rule.
You are on a date with a local.
[00:03:51] Speaker A: I did go on a date with a local to a nice little. Little restaurant. That little. Little small local.
[00:03:57] Speaker B: You know, some place where nobody will see you. That's why. Okay, so that's how she doing it. She's. If you go on a date with Lila re within the city limits of Portland, Beaverton, Clackamas metro area, you're gonna.
[00:04:10] Speaker A: Go to a D spot and you're.
[00:04:12] Speaker B: Gonna run into nobody.
And then she will not post it on social and it will be like it never happened.
[00:04:18] Speaker A: Bitch, why you act like you know me? I'm just saying, okay?
[00:04:21] Speaker B: She'll be like, no photos, no proof.
[00:04:23] Speaker A: I did celebrate a birthday, okay? After. After last season, I did my. I had my birthday and I took myself out. I did a whole solo date thing. And you know how folks be doing their birthday, and they'd be like, we're going to dinner on this night, and in this time, we're going to the club, and then this time we're doing this. I absolutely took myself on several dates solo by myself. I went to some really nice, like, some really nice restaurants, like, ones that you had to get on a wait list to get in.
Rooftop bar lounge. Well, it was a rooftop restaurant. It was, like, really nice.
I got dressed up. I really got dressed, dressed, took myself out.
[00:04:55] Speaker B: I bet you you appreciated you, didn't you?
[00:04:57] Speaker A: I did. I did. I took myself out and then I showed myself a good time. You know what I'm saying? But no, I actually really, really did appreciate the time by myself. Like, I actually kind of enjoyed the solo date. Like, I never thought I was gonna be that person they like. Yeah, I can do the oh, I take myself out to eat for lunch or something like that, but I've never done the, like the night time. Go intentionally to a place where I have to have a reservation and sit by myself. And I absolutely enjoyed it. I went to a place here called Departure. Departure at the Nines. Yeah. So on the top of the roof. And they were so nice.
[00:05:32] Speaker B: Had you never been.
[00:05:32] Speaker A: I had never been.
[00:05:33] Speaker B: Been many times. It's. Especially in the summer. Nice cool breeze up there.
[00:05:37] Speaker A: My birthday's in December, so there's that. But it was still nice. But it was really nice. It was great because the tree up was the tree downtown was up, and so I had to walk maybe a block to get to the restaurant. And so I got to walk past the tree. I took some cute little pictures and some selfies. When I got there, they were so nice to me. They were like, oh, you know, it's your birthday. They sat me down, let me pick a seat so I could see the whole view. They done brought me dessert with a candle in it. Like, it was really nice. And were they sad for you?
[00:06:05] Speaker B: Like, no, they thought.
[00:06:06] Speaker A: They thought it was really cool.
[00:06:07] Speaker B: They were like, they didn't show.
[00:06:09] Speaker A: I did. I told them I was doing a.
[00:06:10] Speaker B: Solo day comp her appetizer. Guys.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: They did count my dessert. They did count my dessert. But no, they were really, like. They were like, I love that you're doing this. And they were so nice.
And I actually sat next to a Olympian.
[00:06:25] Speaker B: Bruce Jenner.
[00:06:26] Speaker A: No, I'm trying to find the right words because I don't want to say it wrong, but the Handicap Olympics.
[00:06:33] Speaker B: Special Olympics.
[00:06:33] Speaker A: Special Olympics.
It was a lady in a wheelchair, and she was like, an Olympic Olympian. And I was like, oh, that's cool. So I was eavesdropping on their conversation because they were right next to me, and so I was like, that's kind of cool. I was like, snap, Snap.
But yes, it was nice. And the next day, I took myself out to Con, which is a restaurant that has, like, won the James Beard Award. And that's like a really big award for restaurants.
[00:06:56] Speaker B: Okay, where is it in comparison to Michelin awards?
Cause I feel like most restaurants are looking for that Michelin rating.
[00:07:03] Speaker A: Yeah, that's right. I have no clue. Okay. But it was very nice. I sat. It's very hard to get in there. It's usually, like, to get more than one person in, you gotta be on a wait list. And so because it was me by myself, I was able to slide in.
And so they had like a nice counter where you sat there and they cook. And they have like a. The kitchen's open so everybody can see them cook.
[00:07:21] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:21] Speaker A: And so I got to watch everything be made and played. You order in courses. And it was just real nice and cute. They gave me a little card that went with my. They sat down and it had like a card and it said, thank you for coming. And it had like a little thing and I was cute. My titty popped out on accident. Oh, my God. Like, nipple, like full titty popped out. How did that happen? So I had this very low cut dress that couldn't wear a bra with. And so I was like, okay, I'm good. I put it on. It felt tight and secure. And I didn't realize, though, but I took my jacket off and I was bending over to put it down.
My strap fell, my titty fell out. I was like, scoop. And I was like, happy birthday to me.
[00:07:56] Speaker B: So.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: So that was interesting.
But, yeah, so dated myself, went on a date. I don't know if I've been on a couple dates. I can't. I've had a few conversations, you know, talking to a few people.
But since the last episode, we did go to Baltimore for the podcast festival that we talked about going to.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: Wow, that was a while ago.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: That was. We talked about we were going to it, but we hadn't gone yet.
[00:08:17] Speaker B: Yeah, we went to the Afros and audio podcast event.
[00:08:19] Speaker A: And that was so this girl right here.
[00:08:21] Speaker B: Okay, first of all, it wasn't my fault that they did not bring out the tacos.
[00:08:25] Speaker A: She made a name for us on the first night. She does listen.
[00:08:27] Speaker B: Both of us made a name, though. Let's not act like I wasn't the only one that stood out.
[00:08:32] Speaker A: I mean, I stood out because I was yelling about your tacos to you across the room. It was a group effort, but you stormed out.
So we were at a mixer. We were at like this mixer, first night mixer thing. And it's like all these different podcasters. They're Doing a whole little presentation, and they're doing these song things. So at this point in the night, we had all been drinking, and, you know, it's been a long day. She had just drove up from Virginia to Baltimore. I had been there, like, maybe two days before.
And so she's at the table with a few folks that we had met. I was standing up, talking to some people. They were doing, like, the lyrically correct game where they give you a clue and you yell out the song title or the artist or whatever. And I was killing it, you know? Cause they used to do radio.
[00:09:11] Speaker B: To be fair, before we started this game, I had put an order in for three shrimp tacos before the game started.
[00:09:24] Speaker A: There's a little bar window that you can go and order your drinks at, you know, and everybody's going up and getting their drinks. They had food options. So she went up there, she ordered things, sat down. We're doing the game. She's like, hey, yo, Lila, Ri. Can you tell me about my tacos?
[00:09:38] Speaker B: Now? Before I yelled out, asking Lee Laree to check on my tacos is because I had already been to the window asking about my tacos two times.
And each time I waited about 20 minutes in between.
And on the second time when I went up there, they was like, oh, my bad. We gave your tacos to that last person. We didn't realize.
And I was like, okay. And I was like, so are you gonna. You know, what are we doing about that? And they're like, well, we can either make you some new tacos, or we can, you know, like, we can comp a drink for you. I was like, or you could do both, right? I was like, I will gladly have another drink while you're getting my tacos for me.
[00:10:18] Speaker A: That I already paid for that part.
[00:10:20] Speaker B: And so they was like, I. So they got me my drink, and at this point is when I went and sat down. Now Lee is at the taco line, just talking. Not in line, though. Yeah.
[00:10:28] Speaker A: And she's like, where's my tacos? And I'm like, okay, hold on. So I go to the window, and I'm like, hey, my co host over there is waiting on tacos. She's been waiting for a minute. You know, where the tacos at? They then tell me, the. The kitchen's closed.
We comped her drink, and that's what she asked for, and we don't have her tacos.
[00:10:45] Speaker B: And at that, I literally stood up.
[00:10:48] Speaker A: Hold on, hold on. Wait, hold on. You didn't walk out. You said, so I Had to yell back at you. So at this point, we now have the attention of the entire room, and the whole room is invested in whether or not she gave me tacos. So I come back and she's looking, and I'm like, they ain't got your tacos.
And she's like, what the fuck?
[00:11:05] Speaker B: Yeah. I literally stood up, said, what the fuck? Walked out, slammed. So the doors were like, well, first.
[00:11:11] Speaker A: She slammed a chair against the table.
[00:11:13] Speaker B: First she slammed the chair. Cause I had to tuck it in. I mean, that's just rude to leave it out, right? And so now, if you can imagine, like, those doors to a gym where you push it and the handle kind of goes, whatever. And so you push the doors open and it makes a huge loud sound. And I'm like, I'll be in the car.
[00:11:29] Speaker A: And she literally stormed out. Like, it was like the two doors flung open, like somebody had held them open for her. And she's. When I say stormed out, like, we're not talking about, like, little wall. She literally stomped. Temper tantrum walk out the room, and everybody then, like, you can hear the wind of the heads move towards me, and they're like, whoosh. And I'm like, I guess I gotta go.
So then I'm like, trying to find her because we came separately, because she literally drove from Virginia straight to the venue I had Ubered from the hotel. And so I'm like, I don't even know where she parked at. And so I'm like, walking around this place, I'm like, hey, you see my friend Taco? You know? Cause I need to get her my ride. And so I'm calling. I'm like, where are you? She's like, I'm in the parking lot. And I'm like, okay. So we get out there, then we.
[00:12:14] Speaker B: End up going to Popeyes and getting the tackle box.
[00:12:16] Speaker A: And she did. She got her some shrimp. She finally got us some. So shrimp. And then she came back the room. She was like. She was nasty.
[00:12:22] Speaker B: Nasty. I was still so mad. So, of course, the next day I was like, did you ever get your tacos?
[00:12:26] Speaker A: So then she was dubbed the taco lady for the entire weekend, which was great.
[00:12:30] Speaker B: I'm just saying, don't play with my shrimp tacos. You said they were coming and you lied and you gave them away.
[00:12:35] Speaker A: Don't piss her off. Tacos are important. And especially when you've been drinking and you're tired and you've been driving all day. But, yeah, so that was a fun event, though. We. We met a Lot of people. We did some impromptu interviews, our crazy little questions that we've been asking people and so we'll probably post some of those soon.
We learned a lot. We met a lot of people, had some really weird experiences. But it was cool.
[00:12:58] Speaker B: It was good.
[00:12:59] Speaker A: Yes, we'll just leave it at that. But we're excited to go back again this coming year, so that's going to be fun.
What else? Anything else happen to us podcast wise?
[00:13:07] Speaker B: I think that's it.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: Yeah, we aired season five and it was great. We finally got it out and.
Yeah, let's dip into our favorite episodes. Let's do it. Okay.
So we had our recap episode where.
[00:13:21] Speaker B: We talked about what we talked about. Right now we're talking about what we talked about.
[00:13:24] Speaker A: So we'll pass by that one.
This one was one of our favorites.
[00:13:29] Speaker B: Which one?
[00:13:29] Speaker A: In Killing Color. Oh yeah.
Oh yeah. This is gonna be your word for the season. In Killing Color with Kendra Howe. She. We met her at the podcast festival in North Carolina and she was very much a person who got her kind of claim to her platform by being kind of toxic online. Like she was a shit starter on purpose. And she very much claims this. She's like, I was intentionally pissing people off and it was working for me. And if it worked for her, I loved it because you know, for us it wouldn't work. But she would piss people off and say some stuff and they would click the rage bait. She was, I think she's probably the first one to do rage bait at this point because she was saying some wild ass shit. But she has a show called In Killing Color. It's a podcast where she talks about black serial killers. And it's like a really interesting take on it too because it's not like just telling this dramatic sad story. She's funny and the way she tells these stories was freaking hilarious. We could not stop laughing and I felt really bad.
[00:14:26] Speaker B: We couldn't close our mouths. We were in awe.
[00:14:28] Speaker A: In fact, one of the clips I posted was a bit of a no. It was about one of the stories and we cracked up. It was like this lady, the girl. The 17 year old. No, the 17 year old who killed 25 men after she slept with him.
And we were cracking up. Cause Nicole was like, yo dick was whack and yo dick was whack. Stab.
She used him as furniture. We're freaking hollering. So we post a clip online and this guy gets on there and was like, if a man was killing women and talking about it, you guys Wouldn't think it was funny. And I was like, actually was very well follow our podcast. But my favorite story was the damn drag queen. I just. She told this story. It was like this drag queen went to prison and let me stop saying was a trans, transgender woman. Okay. So we. We took that and ran with it as a drag queen. So we're imagining this old glittery cane, big wig wearing dress, you know, seven foot tall drag queen. And it absolutely was just a transgender woman.
But had went to prison for like 30 years, 25 years. Some. Some extended amount of time.
[00:15:32] Speaker B: Get out and still cut up.
[00:15:34] Speaker A: Got went to prison for murdering somebody. Went and served time. Got out as like a 75, 80 year old woman. Drag transgender woman. And then came out and then killed somebody within months.
And the funniest part was, was that she was like, the woman went to Home Depot in her scooter and was like getting the supplies.
Murder somebody and hide the body and had like a little flower bag. And she was just driving.
And we just. I swear to God, we couldn't stop laughing. But you got to go listen to the episode because that was hilarious. Shout out to Kendra. She's. She was amazing. I like her. We'll have to have her back. Because there were so many stories that she told, and she was like, I could tell my own personal stories of people I know. We were like, oh.
[00:16:16] Speaker B: And then if you go and listen to that episode, you'll hear some of my own personal stories of people I know that.
[00:16:20] Speaker A: Yes, Nick B. Has been very close to some murderous.
[00:16:24] Speaker B: People I didn't even know.
[00:16:25] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. I'm scared.
Healthy co parenting with Jamila and Elle. Those. Now listen, we've known Jamila for years.
[00:16:33] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:16:34] Speaker A: Debutante sisters. You went to high school with her and high school.
[00:16:38] Speaker B: No, no, no high school.
[00:16:39] Speaker A: Just high school. Okay. I was like, dang.
But we went to. I went to middle school with you, and I'm acting like you went to middle school.
[00:16:46] Speaker B: Girl.
[00:16:46] Speaker A: I'm so slow. Anyways, they.
So this is funny. Jameela had a high school boyfriend.
They separated. They broke up in high school.
[00:16:54] Speaker B: They both got married.
[00:16:56] Speaker A: They each got married, and then Elle married Jamila's high school boyfriend. They didn't know each other before then, but, you know, she was married to her boyfriend, the guy that she dated in high school. Elle and her husband then got divorced.
Jameela then started dating the same guy again, and then her and Elle became best friends.
And now they are co parents.
[00:17:17] Speaker B: Yeah, they're in their co parenting because Elle had two Children with him or one?
[00:17:22] Speaker A: Two.
[00:17:23] Speaker B: Two. Two children. And then Jamila and her husband then had a child.
[00:17:29] Speaker A: Yes, Jamila had a child and then she had another one.
[00:17:32] Speaker B: Two children from her previous marriage.
[00:17:34] Speaker A: I think one child from previous marriage. Oh, two.
You're. I think you're right. Okay. Yeah, we're gonna roll with that.
[00:17:40] Speaker B: If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.
[00:17:41] Speaker A: Then whatever. They got kids.
[00:17:42] Speaker B: They got kids.
[00:17:43] Speaker A: But anyways, they had. And so anyways, they co parent together and they co parent really well. Like it's almost like this Disney fantasy co parenting situation because I don't know, not a single person that has this experience. I know I surely don't, but I.
[00:17:56] Speaker B: Wish more people did.
[00:17:58] Speaker A: I do too.
[00:17:58] Speaker B: It's just good for the kids.
[00:17:59] Speaker A: I mean, I don't know if I.
[00:18:00] Speaker B: The parents to get along, period. You know, just for the parents to get along and be on the same page of a parenting plan, having that.
[00:18:06] Speaker A: Support, like being able to, like, you know, you can lean on each other to watch kids and not worry that.
[00:18:10] Speaker B: You know, you're over at your step mama's and it's an issue.
[00:18:13] Speaker A: But with. Love that part. And I think at one point they lived in the same apartment building, like next door to each other. Like, they were like, when I say they're close, they're close close. But it was really nice to see it's something that we all could learn from. I'm working on it. So, you know, there's that delusional dating fantasy versus reality tp. Yes. I have Atlanta barber from Atlanta Barber, bodega, owner, rapper, rapper, podcaster, creative suite having like a creative space.
[00:18:42] Speaker B: A tripper dater. A tripper dater.
[00:18:45] Speaker A: No, he did not think that joke was funn.
I still laugh about that. He was talking about his girlfriend and he had mentioned, you know, he was describing her and how they met and all these things. And he goes, yeah, you know, she's a real strip tripper. And we both heard her stripper. And so we were like. And I think I almost spit out my drink. And Nicole, Nick was like, oh, you know, if you like strippers, cool. And he looked at us and was like, should we go on trips and stuff. He just kept talking and we were like, oh, tripper.
He was like, yeah.
[00:19:16] Speaker B: And.
[00:19:18] Speaker A: But we talked about how women kind of have like a delusional version and idea of dating men. And I shared a story about how I talked to somebody and even though he was like, yeah, I don't do long distance, and I was like, we're gonna be together.
And we weren't, obviously.
But we all kind of shared. We all share. Well, Nicole, Nick B. Didn't share these stories. I've been calling you your real name all season.
[00:19:40] Speaker B: I know, right?
[00:19:40] Speaker A: I don't know.
[00:19:41] Speaker B: That's not my name. My name is Nick.
[00:19:45] Speaker A: But we did share some stories and he kind of clowned me for feeling the way I felt about mine.
[00:19:49] Speaker B: I was like, oh, your feelings are wrong.
[00:19:51] Speaker A: My feelings are invalidated.
But he did give us some good insight about like, you know, having reasonable boundaries and reasonable expectations and all the things. And so if you listen to the episode, he actually dropped some bars for us. So if you want to get those bars, you better watch that episode, what Men Want with my friend Will.
That was a surprise, surprisingly good episode.
[00:20:14] Speaker B: It was really, really good.
[00:20:15] Speaker A: Like, and I say surprisingly not because he's not a good speaker or they didn't have good insight. I just.
It has some really good, clear, communicative information that we all could use. And people really love that episode.
[00:20:28] Speaker B: I will say this, so far for season five, that has been our highest viewed episode of that season. And it's also been the one episode that we've received the most feedback, especially from men who are saying, I feel heard in this episode.
[00:20:44] Speaker A: Absolutely.
[00:20:45] Speaker B: And that he represented men very well with a clear and concise message on things that men need to feel safe in their relationship, their validations and expectations.
It was just listen. If you haven't had a chance to listen to it, you should go back and listen or watch if you'd like to watch. But it was a really good episode. And I think women can take from it the opposite of what we may think men want because we sometimes think men want based on what we've created in our heads.
[00:21:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Or what we see on social media. All the things. It was nice because it was a very non toxic view of like he. I think we've had a lot of like toxic men on our show, which are always fun. They're fun, they're good clickbait episodes, you know, and they say things that actually could be valid points but because of how they delivery is.
And then you know, when they. And when you know their personal background, you'd be like.
But when Will said it, it was like, oh, that makes sense.
You said it with a degree. Got it.
[00:21:45] Speaker B: You said it with a degree.
[00:21:46] Speaker A: But no, it was actually a really good episode and men and women alike could like really relate to that one. So I. I loved it. Hey, shout out to Will.
Coloring outside the lines. Non Traditional dating with cringe dressy.
[00:21:59] Speaker B: Yeah. So Queen Drizzy is actually a friend of mine. And what was great about this episode is what we learned of her on the show was not the person that I knew of in real life, but that's because you don't always know people the way you think you know people.
And where I think she had always portrayed kind of this by the book, cookie cutter, good girl in the past. She decided she wanted to start exploring her sexuality and found out there are some things about herself that she didn't even know she liked. And so we really dove into transitioning from being this real cookie cutter expected, you know, good girl, traditional dating to really exploring what makes you happy in different ways, in non traditional ways.
[00:22:54] Speaker A: And what I liked about that episode was that we've had episodes with. We had the Kinks and Freaks. We've had the sexual compatibility. We've had all kinds of, like, episodes where we talk about these things and it's like, so sex focused, which is, like, kind of the basis of it. But her episode was really about exploration, about learning yourself, about finding out what you like. And it felt like because she's an artist, it felt very poetic almost when she talked about it. And it was like, oh, I can kind of relate to liking these things and not feeling like it's like a.
Like a freak show.
[00:23:28] Speaker B: Right?
[00:23:28] Speaker A: You know, like, you can.
[00:23:29] Speaker B: She can sit in her truth.
[00:23:31] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. And. And the part about where she expressed that she's like, I'm not your traditional, you know, Instagram, you know, beauty, or what society views as, quote, unquote beautiful. And she's like, the misconception is that people think that I can't get anything, you know, and while I'm over here getting everything right. And so I love that because she represented, like a good majority of women in society and being able to say, hey, I might not look like what you guys view as sexy on social media, but I absolutely am sexy. I absolutely can get these men to want me and do the things that.
[00:24:03] Speaker B: You know that your man won't do.
[00:24:06] Speaker A: All the things that your man won't do. Okay. But I did love that episode. You cannot Google her. You cannot find her.
[00:24:13] Speaker B: She does not want to be found.
She is living her best life without you in her business.
[00:24:18] Speaker A: Absolutely. And that might be the way to go, you know, stress, love, and burnout with Cassandra Dunbar.
Let me say this. Dr. Cassandra. And I will apologize to Dr. Cassandra because I got so excited about this episode that you forgot her credentials. I did, and I'M like, you know, you earned them letters. Right. I need to give you your respect. Okay.
[00:24:40] Speaker B: Give the flowers.
[00:24:41] Speaker A: But she.
She's so down to earth. It almost is like you don't feel like you're talking to, like, a high. A high person that's like, you need to listen to me. And I have all these things.
[00:24:51] Speaker B: Hey, doctor.
[00:24:53] Speaker A: Yes. But she's so down to earth. And she had some really great insight. We talked about.
I met her at the podcast festival in North Carolina, but she talked about the ways that you experienced stress, where you experienced burnout, anxiety, depression. And she kind of differentiated all those things because, like, we had talked about, a lot of people will kind of group those into one thing. Like, I'm stressed out. Oh, you must be depressed. Or, you know, they have the similar, you know, side effects or whatever symptoms, but they are very different and you address them differently. And so she talked about how that impacts your relationships personally, professionally, platonic, all those things. She talked about how that could impact your sex life.
You know, things to look for, when.
[00:25:36] Speaker B: And how to coping.
[00:25:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:38] Speaker B: How to problem solve and just sort of move past things. Not really move past them, but identify them and how to remedy some of the.
[00:25:47] Speaker A: The biggest takeaway I had was the burnout one where we talked about, like, friend burnout or relationship burnout, and where she talked about what are the feelings that you get when you're around a certain person?
Is it that you crave to be around them, or is that you feel different, you feel sad, you feel like you. You're drained when you're around the people and then you. You're experiencing burnout from that person.
[00:26:08] Speaker B: You take time out.
[00:26:09] Speaker A: Yeah. And. And that's okay. And the good thing was, is out didn't mean that you cut that person off completely out of your life. It's just that you did pull back a little bit and reset and then figure out how you want to navigate that relationship, whether it's a friendship, whether it's a relationship, work, whatever it is. So I really enjoyed that piece of it.
So it was a good episode. So shout out Dr. Cassandra. Yes.
Winning together marriages and business with Dominic and Ken. Was it Kendall? I'm calling Kendra. Kenda Lawson. And they both have their own podcast.
[00:26:42] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:26:42] Speaker A: Dominic is black as America. And then Kenda has the B word. And. Oh, and Dr. Cassandra. Sorry, going back, Dr. Cassandra has. Be well, sis. She's also a podcast.
[00:26:53] Speaker B: Be sure to follow her.
[00:26:54] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. But Dominic and Kendall both have podcasts. We met them at the podcast festival. This is like A whole season of podcasts. It was really good, though.
And Dominic has kind of taken us under his wing to help us, you know, make sure we're staying on track, you know, doing the right thing.
[00:27:09] Speaker B: No, but their episode was great. I really loved watching a married couple that has, first of all, that both work from home, so they're in really tight spaces.
So figuring out how they are able to separate personal and business all while under the same roof for both functions.
[00:27:28] Speaker A: Right.
[00:27:29] Speaker B: And you can imagine kind of going back to the burnout episode, that they could probably get pretty burned out from each other. When you're working side by side with your spouse and work is so close to each other's and you're sometimes in the same room all the time, like, yo, I am tired of you and your draws.
I'm just saying. So it was good to see a healthy relationship that recognizes these things and kind of learn how they work around those things.
[00:27:56] Speaker A: I liked it too, because they.
They told us their love story, which was so cute. How they started out in ROTC together in high school and they separated and they met on the highway again, and they had. They were separated by. I forgot.
[00:28:08] Speaker B: And the wind was blowing.
[00:28:09] Speaker A: It was driving down with the top down, and they were like, meet me at exit 71 and we're gonna blow kisses and drive off into the sunset. I mean, we've totally made that part up. But it was a really cute love story. And I liked how they established how they had that, like, a love hate relationship in high school and how it kind of blossomed into, like, the. This beautiful love story. So it was cute. Kind of like relationship goals a little bit. It was cute. You know, I don't know if I want to work with my partner, but I like what they got going on. And they got some really amazing podcasts.
[00:28:38] Speaker B: I like it for them.
[00:28:38] Speaker A: So check out their podcast, Barbershop Talk with Uncle E. Uncle E. What up out of Baltimore.
Gotta say it like that.
[00:28:48] Speaker B: Baltimore.
[00:28:50] Speaker A: You know, you gotta say Baltimore and you gotta say.
[00:28:53] Speaker B: Sorry. Friends from Baltimore. I know you hate us.
[00:28:56] Speaker A: I ain't sorry. Cause y' all say it like that.
[00:28:58] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. Yo, it was great. High energy. We met him actually at a wine fest.
[00:29:04] Speaker A: Yes. So he does wine on the water. Baltimore, which they got one coming up in June and then another one in September, which we're gonna be going to, which I'm so excited.
[00:29:12] Speaker B: Paper content.
[00:29:13] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. But we met him there. He was such a big support for us, like, even to get our tents and everything else. And Then he had talked about want to dibble and dabble in podcasting. So we were like, you need to come on the show. Come on the show.
So we talked about previous Hot Topic episodes or conversations and topics where we asked him, based on your conversations and things in barbershops, what are your men think of xyz? Yeah. What do men think? And it was things like women proposing. It was things about body enhancements. Body enhancements?
[00:29:46] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:47] Speaker A: Giving head. We talked a lot about. I think oral took, like, a good 15 minutes of our episode.
You learn a few things about me and Nick B.
Unfortunately for me.
[00:30:01] Speaker B: She put a whole muffin in her mouth earlier.
Like the big Costco size one. One bite, one take.
[00:30:10] Speaker A: Wonder why I'm a single. Prove me wrong.
Anywho, that episode was interesting because I liked. We did get some good insight about.
[00:30:20] Speaker B: She didn't do the muffin on there, in case you're looking for.
[00:30:23] Speaker A: And it was like a tiny muffin. Like, little mini muffins. I did do it one bite, but whatever.
Back to topic.
We did get some good insight about what men think and what they talk about behind closed doors.
We got to ask. She's so immature. We're never gonna get this episode, kid. But it was fun. Shout out to Uncle E. We're excited to see you again. If you want to check him out. Wine on the water. Baltimore on social media. If you want to come with us to Baltimore and see, we got room in the tent. We do. We're getting two tents this year. We've got a good group of girls, too. Tent.
Hey, we gonna be drinking and having a good time, making fun of frat.
[00:31:01] Speaker B: Nazing with the security.
[00:31:02] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:31:03] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:31:03] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
But what was your favorite episode last season?
[00:31:09] Speaker B: Favorite episode of last season.
Let me think here.
Sorry, I'm real distracted right now.
[00:31:18] Speaker A: The muffin just took.
[00:31:20] Speaker B: I'm still thinking about that muffin. And then when she plays back, she's gonna pause it. She'll be like, bitch, why? You make me sound like.
[00:31:29] Speaker A: I swear to God. Look, first of all, let's just. Okay, we can just talk about this real quick. Okay? Every season, you make me sound like a philandering mouth whore, and I don't understand why.
[00:31:38] Speaker B: Because you set yourself up for me to come right on in there with the jokes. I can only work off your energy.
[00:31:49] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. She makes it sound like she's like an angel, and this is so horrible.
[00:31:51] Speaker B: Oh, God. I did have a favorite episode last season.
I actually. Well, aside from Will's episode Which turned out to be just fantastic.
I also. I really just enjoyed the co parenting episode.
[00:32:05] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:32:05] Speaker B: It was one of my favorites, especially. Cause I was able to talk about my own kids a little bit.
[00:32:10] Speaker A: And by kids, she means her cats, Mookie and Rosie. If y' all ever go back to, like, season one and two when she was virtual, like, we used to do recordings, and she'd be in Virginia, still recording from her computer. And her cat, absolute Smokey. It was just Smokey. Smokey has, like, a thing. And he would absolutely sit up on her shoulder and put his ass in the camera every single episode.
[00:32:30] Speaker B: Or just start meowing while we're talking.
[00:32:32] Speaker A: But I think by season. By half of season two, she had a water bottle that she was now squirting her cat with every.
[00:32:38] Speaker B: And you'd see me coming up with a water bottle, looking off camera. We'd be knee deep in a conversation with somebody else. And the camera cuts to me, and you just see me sneaking up with my little water gun for no reason.
[00:32:51] Speaker A: She's the awkward cat lady. We need to get that on a shirt.
[00:32:54] Speaker B: All right, men, if you into cats, you into me. Come on.
Ooh.
Go ahead. What was your favorite episode?
[00:33:03] Speaker A: I really like the ink killing color because I just have a dark sense of humor. And I still laugh at those because they were really fun to make reels. Like, putting little inserts in.
[00:33:13] Speaker B: The chair is not a chair.
[00:33:14] Speaker A: The chair is not a chair. That was classic. Classic. I swear to listen. That story was crazy.
[00:33:20] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:20] Speaker A: This lady, I think she said she was a Ghanaian princess or something like that. And so she was 17, and every man she slept with, she killed. She killed and then turned him into furniture.
[00:33:30] Speaker B: She probably was actually really into women.
[00:33:32] Speaker A: She probably was. But the funnier part was that then she told us that she had actually used them as furniture before they died.
[00:33:38] Speaker B: So it was like, sit real still.
[00:33:40] Speaker A: And then it was kind of. But then I was kind of like, by. By guy 5, did he not look at her and be like, this chair looks a little weird. This bed feels like he's watching me. I don't feel comfortable.
[00:33:52] Speaker B: Because guy five is like, I know you're a person. Like, just move, right?
[00:33:57] Speaker A: But I'm gonna go ahead and sleep with her anyways. And then by guy 15, you're like, yo. But by guy 25, I feel like she must have had some whop because dead ass. But at 17. Yeah, at 17, to have killed and.
[00:34:14] Speaker B: Slept with more people than the years you were old, bro, that's wild.
[00:34:19] Speaker A: But that was A good ass episode. The guy with the. It's not funny because it's really traumatizing, I'm sure. For the family, really.
[00:34:27] Speaker B: For the ones that died, for the ones that affected. I'm sure. I'm sure. For the family whose mother was set up on the couch at Christmas time.
[00:34:33] Speaker A: You knew what I was talking about.
[00:34:35] Speaker B: Pretending to open up gifts. I'm sure they felt away.
[00:34:38] Speaker A: This man and his wife got to arguing. They. She fell away, hit a table. The lady died. It sounded pretty like a normal, like, accidental death. It would have been fine had he called the police and said something. But he had the daughter.
He wanted to ruin Christmas. It was Christmas Eve. He had the daughter help him carry the mom to bed. I don't know if he told her he. She was drunk or whatever, but then he got the mom up and put sunglasses on her and then sat her on the couch. And the kids open gifts at her. The kids opened gifts in front of their mama. Like Weekend at Bernie. It was like Weekend at Burdettes. Like, I don't know what's going on, but the way that I envisioned that was just kind of humorous. And I feel really bad because I'm sure the kids are like, I hate everybody who talks about this story.
[00:35:14] Speaker B: And they probably don't celebrate Christmas to this day.
[00:35:16] Speaker A: Probably don't.
[00:35:17] Speaker B: They do not exchange.
[00:35:19] Speaker A: No. They went Jehovah. No.
[00:35:21] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:35:21] Speaker A: They're not gonna do no holidays, period.
[00:35:24] Speaker B: Get out of here with that trash ass holiday.
[00:35:28] Speaker A: But yeah, so we did have some favorite episodes. Make sure y' all check it out. You can catch it on our website. There was a Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Pandora, everywhere we everywhere. So catch up on all five seasons.
[00:35:42] Speaker B: And get ready for season six, because I want to know what we got coming up this season.
[00:35:47] Speaker A: Okay, let's talk about it. In no particular order.
[00:35:48] Speaker B: None.
[00:35:49] Speaker A: We'll start with the recap episode.
[00:35:52] Speaker B: In the recap episode where we talk.
[00:35:53] Speaker A: About what we talked about literally right now.
But I'm.
We do an episode that we have dubbed Real Reactions. And when we say Real Reactions, we mean R E E L.
We're trying something different. This was Nick B's idea. We'll see how it pans out. Producer got his hands full because he's like, you guys keep giving me shit to do.
[00:36:15] Speaker B: This is not my contract.
[00:36:16] Speaker A: This is not what I asked.
[00:36:17] Speaker B: Just because we friends right now don't mean you can take advantage of my talents.
[00:36:22] Speaker A: He's gonna insert some random ass shit. We're gonna be like, this ain't what you Guys are watching.
[00:36:26] Speaker B: Really?
Wow.
To dead air.
[00:36:29] Speaker A: Dead air completely. But we will be watching live some reels from social media. So it's kind of similar to Hot Topics. And then we'll be reacting to it and then discussing what we saw on the reels or how we or even.
[00:36:44] Speaker B: Not only what we saw, but our viewpoints on the feedback that we're providing feedback to.
[00:36:51] Speaker A: This sounds like a really trash episode.
[00:36:53] Speaker B: Well, if this is our least viewed episode, man, f that, who cares? We tried something different and sometimes it don't always, always work when players mess up too.
[00:37:00] Speaker A: So move on. Okay, moving on.
The Black Mannequin challenge. Pause.
Okay, so would we play this back?
Because I did not. I did not pick a good pose.
[00:37:15] Speaker B: I didn't either look stupid.
[00:37:18] Speaker A: Why are we like this? Brian Walden of Black Mannequin.
Now, if you guys follow me at all, you know that I love local clothing brands. We have tons of friends that have been on the show that have their own brands.
Nick B. Has been taking these local brands back to the D.C. area, the DMV, showing.
[00:37:36] Speaker B: Them off, wearing them out, letting people know where they can buy.
[00:37:39] Speaker A: Listen, you know, she's a fashionista.
[00:37:41] Speaker B: Send me your merch so that I can let folks out there know what it's about.
[00:37:44] Speaker A: Abso freaking lutely. We worldwide right now. So, you know, but, but Brian Walden came on and talked about his, his stories, his life, like how he got into doing a black mannequin, how he got the name, which is kind of a cute story, and brought us some merchandise. And we had some really good conversations about just what it's like to be an entrepreneur, how he navigates personal life and business relationships, even like why he made his adolescent choices that he had made. Because that's an interesting story as well.
[00:38:17] Speaker B: And how does adolescent and choices have shaped him into who he is today.
[00:38:20] Speaker A: Absolutely. And if you will see some content where he tells a story about throwing cinder blocks. And you'll have to watch.
Just saying.
Oh, we got the Scripper Chronicles part. Dudes. That thong. The thong, thong, thong.
[00:38:35] Speaker B: With Miss China. So I don't know if any of you guys recall back in season three, season four. No, it was that long ago.
[00:38:43] Speaker A: It was.
[00:38:44] Speaker B: All right. Well, a couple seasons back, we had sat down and we did an interview with with two male entertainers.
[00:38:52] Speaker A: Shout out Superman in slow mo. Shout out of Dallas, Texas. Slow mo.
[00:38:55] Speaker B: Man, he still cracks me up.
Anyway, we really wanted to do a take on life of men in the industry, the entertainment business, and hear some interesting stories about times that They've encountered aggressive women or the biting of the dicks. Biting of the tally whackers.
That's movie trailer coming to you in the theater soon.
[00:39:20] Speaker A: And she's the. She's the star.
[00:39:21] Speaker B: I am not.
That would be lean the muffins.
[00:39:25] Speaker A: I don't bite. I don't bite.
[00:39:28] Speaker B: See how you set yourself up. I don't bite. Okay.
So anyway, we really wanted to talk to a woman who was in the entertainment industry and just get a different take and hear the differences and experiences. And Ms. China delivered.
[00:39:45] Speaker A: I'm telling you, it was jaw droppers in that episode.
[00:39:48] Speaker B: Yeah, be sure to tune in for that one.
[00:39:50] Speaker A: And be sure to tune in because we might make some content from her place of business.
[00:39:54] Speaker B: I'm just saying, is she cute too? So, you know, if you want to throw some money her way, she will take you.
[00:39:59] Speaker A: We might drop her cash app just because we support.
[00:40:01] Speaker B: We support local small business.
[00:40:05] Speaker A: She ain't small. She ain't.
[00:40:07] Speaker B: She ain't small.
[00:40:10] Speaker A: But I am excited by that.
Oh, he's gonna kill us again.
Popcorn.
[00:40:15] Speaker B: Popcorn. Poppy.
[00:40:17] Speaker A: Listen, all the extra pops. He's really gonna kill us.
[00:40:21] Speaker B: Yeah, he is.
[00:40:22] Speaker A: But he loves us too though, so we love him. David Ferguson, who is the owner of Joe Brown's Caramel Corn in Portland, which is like an iconic business that's been around since the 30s. And he took over in the past few years and opened up more locations, but not even just dwindling him down to just popcorn. He is like a multifaceted. He really is like a mogul.
[00:40:43] Speaker B: He's a licensed realtor. He owns lounges.
Of course he has the popcorn.
The whole industry online.
[00:40:53] Speaker A: Basically.
[00:40:54] Speaker B: He's the popcorn man and so much more. And he's been doing it for so long.
[00:40:58] Speaker A: The music publishing.
[00:40:59] Speaker B: Oh yeah, he does have the music publishing plaques. Okay.
[00:41:02] Speaker A: In his office.
[00:41:03] Speaker B: Now, we couldn't get him to drop anything for us because he did mention that he kind of dabbles.
[00:41:08] Speaker A: He used to rap. And we're gonna find it on Apple and we are going to play it.
[00:41:13] Speaker B: We are. At some point we're gonna start restreaming that.
[00:41:15] Speaker A: We are. We're gonna bring it back.
[00:41:16] Speaker B: But it's a great episode and especially for those that are like minded. And when it comes to business, he does leave some really good tips and nuggets.
[00:41:26] Speaker A: Not popcorn kernels, but nuggets.
[00:41:28] Speaker B: Nuggets of wisdom on what it took for him to be successful.
Of course, not everything applies to all people, but if you can take anything away from it, by all Means follow the blueprint.
[00:41:39] Speaker A: Yeah. And it's funny because we did have a lot of entrepreneurs in the season, and you'll see the difference in where they're at in their careers, their different approaches and things. He had a very calm, very focused view of entrepreneurship, where he was like, this is very much my priority. This is what I'm gonna do, and I'm gonna make the sacrifices that I need to make to get successful and be where I at. And he's absolutely enjoying life right now because of how he's been able to navigate his entrepreneurship. So we're happy to have had him here and to have y' all watch that episode. Oh, this one.
It's Keela and Cool Nuts. I love them.
Okay. The episode, we called it Power and Partnership, Love, Legacy and the Industry.
Such a good title. Thank you, AI.
But yeah, we went to school with Keela. I met both Nick B. And Keela in middle school, but you knew her since elementary school. And Cool Nuts, AKA Terrence Cool Nuts is her husband, but is also like a. Just not even like a local legend. He's internationally known. He is literally, you can Google him at this point.
But he is a rapper, a producer, a manager, he is a father, a husband, all the things. But he has worked with some of the industry's greatest top entertainers and musicians, on top of being a really great one himself.
And so he had so much great insight. But we got to talk to him about Keela being a freaking healthcare icon herself because she does a huge amount of work here in Portland to make sure that there are no health disparities across the board for people. So she's putting in work and she's worked really hard for her 20 year career in healthcare. So it's like this power couple of.
[00:43:31] Speaker B: People and how they balance life, love, and work, which is not easy. It's actually the downfall of a lot of relationships is not being able to find the time, and not just the time, but quality time to invest in your relationship. So if you are someone who's wondering how to make those things work in maybe your relationship, listen to some. Listen to what somebody else is doing, see if it works for you.
[00:43:56] Speaker A: Right, right. Especially because with their situation, because he travels so much, she almost kind of can be able to give the. The standpoint of a single mom as well as a mom in a relationship. Because, you know, not that. Not that he doesn't contribute at all, but I'm saying he. He's gone a lot. So she has to step up in ways that many can relate to when you don't have a partner. And then she also gets to play the role of being like the supportive. The supportive mom, the supportive wife. While he also supports her and her career and elevates her career. Like they talk about how they both made sacrifices and you don't often hear about how men sacrifice to help their women get to their relationship.
[00:44:34] Speaker B: And both of them from both sides of their family have a village.
[00:44:37] Speaker A: Yeah. So that it's like a super well rounded dream team that they have there. So it was a beautiful episode and I'm excited for y' all to see that.
[00:44:44] Speaker B: Me too.
[00:44:46] Speaker A: Our next guest, Lee and Nick B.
We did listener letters.
[00:44:52] Speaker B: This was so much fun.
[00:44:53] Speaker A: Y' all have been writing in.
[00:44:55] Speaker B: You guys came through this season with the letters. We actually had quite a few. Some of them we weren't able to get to just because we only have so much time in which that we can actually read your story but then also give it time and respond to it.
So there were three letters that we took. And don't worry, we'll get to other letters. We'll read them other seasons.
But we talked about these three different stories and a dm and a dm and we basically. We read them to each other or off. I think yours. You didn't have it to read, but either way. And just kind of got our feedback on advice they were looking for. And it ranged from a married couple not knowing how to talk to each other about not wanting to be at so many family related events.
[00:45:41] Speaker A: Right, right, right.
[00:45:42] Speaker B: To a young lady who wants advice on her first time she's a virgin.
[00:45:47] Speaker A: And the friend dating the friend's boyfriend.
[00:45:49] Speaker B: And the friend dating her friend's boyfriend and wanting advice on how she can salvage relationships when doesn't look too good, fellas.
[00:45:59] Speaker A: Then we had the friend going behind the friend and messing with the guys that the other friend had.
[00:46:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Kind of like a jealousy.
[00:46:07] Speaker A: It was. It was interesting. But we did. There were some interesting letters. Keep them coming. If you want to submit a letter at Dirtyroses, you can. And we'll take those via DM letter, email, whatever.
[00:46:19] Speaker B: You can send it there. Or if you can't seem to remember the email address, send us a message on Instagram or Facebook. Yeah.
We do not disclose names. If you should happen to insert a name because it's natural to like list when you're trying to keep a story straight. We will replace names. We don't want anyone to feel like.
[00:46:41] Speaker A: They'Re being put on blast.
[00:46:41] Speaker B: They're being put on blast.
Or that this is a segment to shame people who listen to the show. If, you know it's a mutual.
[00:46:49] Speaker A: It's judgment free. Usually.
[00:46:51] Speaker B: Usually we just judge each other. That's the judgment you gonna get.
[00:46:54] Speaker A: As always, for that part. Oh, my goodness. So that was.
[00:46:56] Speaker B: Send them over. Send them over.
[00:46:57] Speaker A: Absolutely. Oh, when life gives you lemons, make chocolate dope.
[00:47:02] Speaker B: Chocolate dope.
[00:47:03] Speaker A: Okay, okay, listen.
[00:47:04] Speaker B: Reggie is a character.
Okay. You guys are gonna love him. Like we did. We sat down here with this man, and he had us cracking up from the very top of the show all the way to the end. And along the way, he is a storyteller.
[00:47:20] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:47:20] Speaker B: And he has a story to tell. He's lived a lot of places.
He'll know what I mean. Shout out to all 50 states.
[00:47:29] Speaker A: Reggie @ that point.
[00:47:32] Speaker B: But yeah, no, he. He's a businessman who has a story to tell. And it's just really nice, again, to see someone kind of pulled themselves up from the bootstraps.
When life gets you lemons, create your own business.
[00:47:44] Speaker A: That part. And again, another local clothing brand who has been expanding because he's talking about. He's got stuff being in movies now on Tubi. Yeah. So. And he's going to be in actor. He's doing some things. So another clothing brand again. And like we said earlier, like, very different perspectives on how they approach business. So really good episode. We love Reggie. It was. It was really funny.
Off with his head.
Life after Queen's Court.
[00:48:12] Speaker B: Okay, this one. You guys are gonna love this episode. We had the chance to sit down and talk to this gentleman who has been on a reality dating show.
[00:48:22] Speaker A: Shout out to Zack Bayer.
[00:48:24] Speaker B: Okay. Zack Bayer was on season two of Queen's Court, which is currently streaming on Peacock. You can check out both seasons one and two.
[00:48:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:32] Speaker B: But this guest specifically on season two.
And if you haven't seen the show, it's great. So they were essentially fighting for the love over Ms. K. Michelle, Ms.
Lisa Ray, and Delicious and Delicious, who, to be fair to, is now known as London.
[00:48:51] Speaker A: Yes. So you must refer to as London. We're gonna say Delicious so that y' all know who we're talking about. But no, it was. It was like seasoned women of the industry giving bachelorette vibes without the drunk. Like, there wasn't much drama. It was actually. They were really friendly, which I actually kind of enjoyed. Like, we do love.
[00:49:11] Speaker B: Supported each other.
[00:49:12] Speaker A: They did. And Zach was super cool because he was like, I can get some of the guys to come on. You know, we can do a Whole thing. And I was like, oh, that would be so cool. We're not going to do it.
But it was. It was interesting to watch these men who were not of the industry vining for the women that are and, and how they approached it. Each women got to pick like the little gaggle of men.
And so we get to talk to.
We talked to Zach about his experience, what it was like having a couple.
[00:49:45] Speaker B: Of the ladies kind of want his attention.
[00:49:47] Speaker A: Want him. Yeah. So he was a little popular man.
[00:49:50] Speaker B: Okay, so please tune into this episode because you are going to. To get an earful.
And please also watch the show on Peacock if you can, because you know.
[00:50:00] Speaker A: What we're talking about.
[00:50:01] Speaker B: Yeah. It's entertaining. It Absolutely. Good tv.
[00:50:04] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. And the great part is because he's actually from Beaverton.
[00:50:08] Speaker B: Yeah. So you might bump into him, you know, like a new season.
[00:50:10] Speaker A: Absolutely. We have local stories over by the oranges Everywhere by the oranges. Hello, Zach. I heard you were on the Queen's Court and then. Dirty roses.
[00:50:19] Speaker B: Right.
[00:50:19] Speaker A: How do you like this orange?
[00:50:20] Speaker B: How you like this orange?
[00:50:21] Speaker A: That's a good pickup line.
[00:50:22] Speaker B: I'm just saying that's where you should find your man.
[00:50:24] Speaker A: Absolutely.
Nick B.
Which episode are you most excited about for this season to air?
[00:50:32] Speaker B: Oh, we've had some good ones this season, but you know, when I say good ones, I mean like good topics. Yeah, I am really excited for terrence, Mr. Cool nuts and miss cool nuts. Keela.
[00:50:48] Speaker A: Miss cool nuts. I'm gonna change her name in my phone to talk about that.
[00:50:54] Speaker B: Just because especially being a single woman who has not been lucky in love, you know, it sparks that don't give up. It's still possible. There's great men out there.
Good relationships do exist. Not everything is toxic.
It inspires me to say, kind of still keep at it. And so that one I really enjoyed. What about you? Do you have a favorite that you're looking forward to?
[00:51:18] Speaker A: I totally. I was reading down my list and I passed one all the way up altogether. You didn't even catch this. It was like, catch me.
[00:51:24] Speaker B: Which one?
[00:51:25] Speaker A: Beyond the influence with Mr. Art Williams of influential Grooming Lounge.
[00:51:29] Speaker B: I don't know how we missed that one.
[00:51:30] Speaker A: I don't know either, because. Celebrity stylist, celebrity barber.
[00:51:35] Speaker B: Right.
[00:51:35] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness.
[00:51:36] Speaker B: So, okay, well, let's talk about that one because that one is another one.
I found that on this season that's coming up here, season six. You guys are really gonna get a chance to meet some people in the industry from different walks in the industry. And this particular episode that Lee's referencing here is we get to talk to a celebrity barber. And how often do you even run across a celebrity barber who has the intimate pleasure of sitting down and cutting someone's hair and having barbershop talk with a person in the industry? And how cool is that to have that 45 minutes alone with someone who's in high demand?
[00:52:17] Speaker A: And not even just alone, but, like, four months at a time? Because he's, like the personal celebrity barber for Aldous Hodge, which he mentions.
[00:52:25] Speaker B: And if you're looking for a good show to reference him in, recently there was a show called Cross on Amazon Prime. So be sure to stream that, because it's. That show will keep you on the edge of your seat.
[00:52:38] Speaker A: It was good.
[00:52:39] Speaker B: It's a really great show.
[00:52:40] Speaker A: And shout out to our Portland friend, Johnny Ray Kill. He was amazing as Bobby Dre.
[00:52:45] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:52:46] Speaker A: So Portland's own.
[00:52:48] Speaker B: Portland's very own. But Jefferson High.
Okay, listen, we gotta rep Art, because that's what we do here, is we all love our high schools, okay? So get. Give them their flowers. They can have them.
Yeah. Oh, my goodness.
[00:53:01] Speaker A: Whatever. Anyway, we love Johnny Ray Gill, but Art was amazing. He talked about his different experiences doing, you know, hair for different celebrities. Even just like, the general barbershop talk was hilarious. The runouts, the fights, the.
[00:53:16] Speaker B: We found out why there's chalk on these men's faces.
[00:53:18] Speaker A: Yo. Did not know.
[00:53:20] Speaker B: Listen. Tune in for that.
[00:53:21] Speaker A: I was about to give. We're not gonna get away. But you gotta listen for why, how that came about and where it started from. And when you hear the reason, you're gonna freaking crack up, because I had no idea. But I did love that episode.
[00:53:32] Speaker B: Which one was your favorite then? Now that we've kind of gone over.
[00:53:35] Speaker A: All of them, I'm with you on the Terrence cool nuts and Ms. Keela cool nuts.
[00:53:41] Speaker B: Ms. Keela nuts.
[00:53:42] Speaker A: Only because I used to be in the music industry, so it was great to connect with somebody who has that level of experience.
And I did enjoy seeing how he navigated marriage, but I'm 100. Reggie cracked me up. Like, there's a line in there that I want to say so bad, but I need to stay listen. You need to say the episode to hear what I'm talking about. But at. And then we're going to take a poll.
[00:54:05] Speaker B: And then we're going to take a poll and find out how many people.
[00:54:07] Speaker A: Think like him at his grown age. There is something that he truly believed about getting pregnant that we just thought that you should have known.
[00:54:15] Speaker B: You need to watch.
[00:54:15] Speaker A: That was funny. I really just really, truly enjoyed the whole season. I think that as entrepreneurs are, it was a great season of entrepreneurship. It was a great season of learning about people's lives and really humanizing everybody.
So I don't know if I can pick one yet. I'll maybe have to watch them back.
[00:54:32] Speaker B: But, you know, you also made a really good statement right now about entrepreneurship. And there's a couple things that us as entrepreneurs have changed this season. Specifically, one of them is our beautiful set.
[00:54:43] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:54:44] Speaker B: Can you tell us a little bit, Ms. Leigh Laree, about where we are and the inspiration behind this space?
[00:54:48] Speaker A: Yes. Shout out to Labs Media. They are kind of like a crew space here that you're able to come into and do shoots, photo shoots, filming. You can even do events here.
You can connect with the folks. Ifani and ime. Thank you. I work with Ifani, but you can connect with them and they have collaborations with tons of people that can help you.
[00:55:13] Speaker B: Local creatives.
[00:55:14] Speaker A: Yeah. That can help you finish out your project, whether it be makeup, whether it be stylist, sound engineering, videography, super excited about it.
[00:55:22] Speaker B: Design, graphic design, all of those things.
[00:55:24] Speaker A: And I think we found our person.
[00:55:27] Speaker B: We absolutely found our person.
[00:55:28] Speaker A: We found our person.
[00:55:28] Speaker B: Our person. Right here.
[00:55:29] Speaker A: Right here, Right here, right here, right here. Mr. Better Days West. Ooh. Oh, my God. Now, y' all know we run through videographers like a hoe on 82nd.
[00:55:37] Speaker B: Eating muffins.
[00:55:38] Speaker A: Eating muffins and working strange for change to make these things happen. But our guy, Kenny Hamlet from Better Days Wax is like top tier videographer. He has his own podcast, he does documentaries, he does videos for non profits. And then he comes here and helps us out with our. Our little set. You know what I'm saying, guys?
[00:55:56] Speaker B: He's professional, involved.
[00:55:59] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:55:59] Speaker B: Shares ideas without taking over, breaks the.
[00:56:01] Speaker A: Fourth wall and participates in our conversations because he's like our third host, executes.
[00:56:06] Speaker B: All of our crazy ideas.
[00:56:07] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:56:08] Speaker B: Absolute pleasure to work with. And we highly recommend, if you are looking for someone who can fit the space of all of the things that he's capable of doing we just mentioned.
[00:56:17] Speaker A: Absolutely.
And on the table, on the table.
[00:56:22] Speaker B: We have one of our sponsors for this season, actually. Are these candles which you may have seen before, sent to be.
She is a black owned business here locally in Portland, Oregon. But don't let that stop you from ordering. She does deliver.
[00:56:37] Speaker A: Wait, what?
She's black owned, so don't let that stop you.
[00:56:41] Speaker B: Well, because I was trying to get at the The Portland part.
[00:56:43] Speaker A: Oh, gotcha.
[00:56:44] Speaker B: I didn't want. She took it, and she was like, what? Cause she's black, we ain't gonna buy her shit. No, I'm not saying that. Damn it. What I am saying is that just because she's in Portland doesn't mean you cannot purchase her product domestically. Now, I don't know if she ships international, but if she does, I'm sure she'll find a way to get it to you.
[00:57:02] Speaker A: That part.
[00:57:02] Speaker B: And she is constantly coming up with new scents, new product. So it's kind of expanded. It started initially with candles, but she now also has incense. She has melts. She has sprays.
[00:57:16] Speaker A: She has car air fresheners, Car fresheners. She's been working on developing carpet fresheners.
She's got the oil infusions, which are amazing.
And these are some of the best. And I say this not from a biased perspective. From a biased perspective. I really mean it. These are some of the best candles. They smell good before they're even lit, and they smell even better when they are lit.
[00:57:40] Speaker B: And I got that almond cherry. It is still one of my favorites.
[00:57:43] Speaker A: Listen, so I'm gonna tell you this. She does custom orders because we just had a gala from my day job. She made 400 individual candles for all of our guests. She does custom labels on the candles for whatever your event is. And every now and then, she do a little special order. So, like, when we did our mail review, she made us some penis wax melts.
[00:58:01] Speaker B: Ooh, sprinkle me, Bobby.
[00:58:03] Speaker A: I tell you, she does custom orders. She made me some Samoa. A massage candle.
[00:58:07] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[00:58:08] Speaker A: I have yet to use it. If you're trying to get massaged.
[00:58:10] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[00:58:10] Speaker A: And you want to try this candle out inbox me. You gotta have a good body, though. I like rubbing on good bodies.
[00:58:16] Speaker B: It's gonna be all right.
[00:58:17] Speaker A: I do like rubbing on. I love rubbing on big bodies, too.
[00:58:19] Speaker B: Now she does like a big body.
[00:58:21] Speaker A: Baby, I have been converted. Listen, listen.
[00:58:25] Speaker B: When we talked about types in season one, she was like, oh, I want a chiseled six nine stallion.
[00:58:30] Speaker A: I did not say those exact words.
[00:58:33] Speaker B: I mean, a. Of sense.
But now today, she is quite happy with little marshmallows.
[00:58:37] Speaker A: I do. I think, you know, I've shrunk a little bit, and I think once I shrunk, I liked it. I was. I'm not gonna lie. I was. I will post a picture. I was a big girl.
[00:58:46] Speaker B: What she's trying to say is that she.
She likes her. Her perspectives have expanded.
[00:58:51] Speaker A: They have. And I like to be wrapped. I like to tuck my feet under your belly now.
[00:58:56] Speaker B: Tuck her toes under your toes.
[00:58:57] Speaker A: I do. Let me lift that belly.
I will shove my feet all the way up in your underbelly. I do not. I do.
[00:59:07] Speaker B: Basically, she gonna take her feet and do this with her feet.
[00:59:11] Speaker A: I know somebody out in Portland that likes that. Yeah, you do. Yeah, you do. I ain't gonna say no name.
[00:59:17] Speaker B: Yeah, you do. Anyway, so we talked about our location, we talked about our production, and we talked about one of our sponsors, but we have another sponsor that we partnered with this. This year. And you want to tell us about that?
[00:59:27] Speaker A: I see it all season because we have been thoroughly enjoying them all season.
[00:59:31] Speaker B: Let me sip to that.
[00:59:33] Speaker A: You know what? Let's. Cheers.
I can't reach it.
Do it again.
[00:59:40] Speaker B: Clink.
[00:59:41] Speaker A: There we go.
[00:59:42] Speaker B: Can you add in a sound of clinking right there? Thank you.
[00:59:46] Speaker A: He's been trying to be quiet. He's like, if y' all don't stop talking to me.
[00:59:50] Speaker B: Have a seat, Kitty.
[00:59:51] Speaker A: He should come on camera. Nebula 9 vodka has been a sponsor for our entire season. They have been amazing. That's a good. That was a good sound clip right there.
They have an amazing vodka that is four times distilled.
[01:00:05] Speaker B: Four. Not three and not two.
[01:00:07] Speaker A: Four quattro. Quattro.
[01:00:11] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:00:13] Speaker A: She had to count that one. Four times. Distilled agave sugars, which is like a natural sugar.
All fruit. Natural fruit juices, so no added sugars.
[01:00:23] Speaker B: I don't know if it's cold pressed, but still. Imagine cold pressed. It's that.
[01:00:26] Speaker A: That part. That part, and then the. The other part. Oh, potato vodka. It is a potato vodka, so it's gluten free. And they have apple cider vinegar and cheese.
[01:00:36] Speaker B: Does corn have gluten in it?
[01:00:37] Speaker A: I don't know. But you have been so pressed about corn vodka, and I just don't understand it, why we're talking about.
[01:00:42] Speaker B: Because I only know potato and corn, and we keep saying potato and that it's gluten free, which makes me wonder, is corn not.
[01:00:48] Speaker A: I mean, I'm assuming it is, but I've never heard of corn vodka, so I don't know.
[01:00:52] Speaker B: Y' all know about that. Gasoline in the South.
[01:00:54] Speaker A: Oh, my God, that moonshine.
Listen, we talk about something. Nebula 9 right now. Potato vodka.
[01:01:01] Speaker B: This is one of the healthiest vodkas that. And I know that kind of sounds a little crazy to say healthy alcohol, but for those that are interested in drinking responsibly, this right here is One of the healthier options you can go with. It's good for your digestive system. It will not leave you with a hangover.
It's reasonably priced. It can be found in Costco. It can be found in select liquor stores.
Great flavor. If you don't know how to mix a drink, these cans come pre mixed.
[01:01:28] Speaker A: They have some cans. So we were talking about the vodka itself in the bottles, but they have these ready to drink cocktails that come in a can and it has two shots of liquor in these cans. They. They're about the size of an energy drink.
[01:01:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:01:41] Speaker A: So it's pretty strong, but you don't taste the alcohol. And they are really literally pre mixed cocktails. 9% alcohol, so you ain't got to go heavy on them. But we did make some drink recipes this season and you'll see those being shown on social media and they're fun. Shout out to Pridefully poured.
[01:01:59] Speaker B: Pridefully poured came and they curated some of them. They curated some 10 cocktails for us.
A couple of them are named after us specifically, but they did it with us in mind and they would. They're excited for you guys to try their product. Absolutely.
[01:02:13] Speaker A: Shout out Carly and Tanya.
[01:02:15] Speaker B: Yeah. And if you're looking for anyone to host an event for you to pour for you at your events mobile service, they can come out and they can do your events, which is amazing.
[01:02:26] Speaker A: I love it. Well, we have a jam packed season. We are jam packed with sponsors. Sponsors. Yeah. Get on, Kenny. Come on camera. Just real quick. Come on, come on, come on.
[01:02:36] Speaker B: Real quick.
[01:02:37] Speaker A: I didn't say it now. So now he has to. He gonna put his head around, like, embarrassing.
It is now. We called you out. What up, King Ken?
This is. This is. This is our guy. We found him. Hear my voice every now and then. Yeah. I try not to get too. Too much. We love it when he does. He gets some really good. He honestly, he gives us really good, good insight about some of our episodes. Good feedback. So strippers, like the strippers? Yeah, he.
[01:03:01] Speaker B: Listen, can he let us Strippers.
[01:03:03] Speaker A: He do like, listen, I'm gonna tell y' all this. Strippers. I mean, he do like to support strippers. He be tossing money. And when he told us how much he tossed, he likes to make it rain.
[01:03:12] Speaker B: Okay. He want to go strip, too. I'm like, well, damn it, Kenny, if you're sending that out, listen, we could.
[01:03:16] Speaker A: Work for a discount.
Wink, wink.
[01:03:20] Speaker B: Look, we'll do something strange for some change.
[01:03:22] Speaker A: Listen, turn these cameras off.
We kidding. Kind of, y' all. Kenny's, girlfriend. I don't know. What's up, girl, y' all? Nick V. Where can they find you if they want a private show?
